What to Do When a Student Experiences Bullying or Conflict at School

At Crook County High School, we are committed to maintaining a safe and respectful learning environment for every student. If your student experiences bullying or a conflict, here’s how we respond and what you can expect:

Step 1: Reporting the Incident

Who should students tell?
Students should report any incident of bullying or conflict immediately to a school counselor or building administrator.

What if a counselor or administrator isn’t available?
Students can fill out the CCHS Reporting Form located on the school website. Reports can be made at any time, including outside of school hours.

Step 2: Investigation and Communication

Once a report is made, the following steps will take place:

A building administrator will meet with the student to hear their concerns and ask them to complete a Student Statement Form.
The administrator will notify the student’s parent or guardian that a report has been made.
The administrator will conduct a thorough investigation, including interviews with other individuals involved and any witnesses.

All findings and steps taken will be documented on the Student Conflict Intervention Form.

Step 3: Resolution and Follow-Up

After gathering all necessary information:

The administrator will follow up with the student who made the report.
The school will work with the student and their family to determine appropriate next steps.
- These may include:
  - A collaborative meeting with all parties involved to work toward resolution.
  - An agreement to avoid further contact between students.
  - If necessary, disciplinary action in accordance with school rules and district policy.
  - When appropriate, the school may partner with local law enforcement.
Once the issue has been addressed, the administrator will contact families again to share the outcome and discuss any next steps if the situation continues.
