Crook County High School Agriculture Teacher and FFA Advisor, Dan McNary, had the opportunity to take a small group of Freshmen to the Central Oregon District FFA Ag Sales Career Development Event (contest) on November 7. The group of four members – Bailey Everest, Abby McNary, Mason Calhoun, and Marli McClellan – each took a test of 50 questions that dealt with all aspects of agricultural sales and marketing. Each member then attempted to sell a product of their choosing to a customer while being evaluated on their sales skills by a panel of judges. Dan and the students worked hard to prepare for this event. Their hard work and efforts paid off for them as they won the contest, besting the other five beginning teams from their FFA district handily.

In addition to the competitive success that this group had, they also assisted in delivering 677 pounds of non-perishable food to the First Baptist Church Food Pantry that the chapter had raised in the month of October with the help of Les Schwab, Wilco, the Prineville Band of Brothers, and our generous community. This was in addition to the 6,000 lbs. of potatoes that the chapter helped our FFA Alumni grow, harvest and donate to the Holiday Partnership to support families in need this holiday season. Congratulations and thank you to Bailey, Abby, Mason, and Marli.
